It’s getting a little colder and the sun is going down earlier and earlier. Yup, Fall is upon us and with the colors of October in full swing, there is only ONE thing that could make this colorful time of year a little more delicious. PIG ROAST. That’s right, for $10, ($5 off!) you can gain entrance into Local 16’s Pig Roast this Thursday, October 13th from 6-10pm. Included with your ticket is as much local roasted pig as you can grab (house white meats will be available as well), locally grown sides, and all the Leinekugel’s you can drink to top it off! All proceeds of the event benefit Fotoweek DC, set to take place November 5 – 12, put on by the organization FotoDC. The organization has evolved from a city-centric photography festival to a multi-season tribute to photography in all its forms. While the largest offering remains the annual festival, FotoDC now holds functions throughout the year. In 2011, FotoDC’s new year-round programming included the innovative exhibition entitled Flash in Crystal City, the first ever Cherry Blossom Photo Contest and the opening of FotoSpace, a new gallery and office space in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. Our inaugural exhibition was “Speaking to Silence” with partners Human Rights Watch and the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting. Now a little about our host: Local 16 features a robust menu full of wonderful options for whatever your mood. You can sample the free-range pan-roasted chicken, twirl your fork eagerly in some meatballs and pasta, or revel in the deliciousness of wood-fire artisan pizzas that will make your tongue quiver with anticipation. In addition to the great tastes, Local 16 features stylish advantages like a second-floor lounge and rooftop patio, ensuring that you’ll enjoy the overall ambiance as much as the food itself. You can even eat late – Local 16’s closing times range from 1 A.M. to 3 A.M. throughout the week, making it a nice go-to place whenever you need a good bite.
